EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES for ADULTS

BeamerBldg

Members and non-members alike are welcome in all classes!

Christian Living Class

The Christian Living adult Sunday school class meets from 9:45-10:50am in Room #9.

During the Christian Living class, we read and discuss books on a wide variety of subjects, all of which encourage and challenge us as we try to live as Christ would have us do. The varying religious backgrounds of the class members keep the discussion lively and interesting.

Beginning on April 15th, the class will begin a study and discussion of Sallie McFague's Life Abundant. "In this splendidly crafted work, Sallie McFague argues that responsible discipleship today entails disciplined religious reflection." Contact class leaders Rick Miller or Mick Henry for more information.

Wednesday Evening Study

An evening study entitled Embracing Emergence Christianity by Phyllis Tickle will be led by Pastor Jed Schenck on Wednesdays starting April 25th at 6pm. This study will examine "the changing face of Christianity and culture. Phyllis surveys 2000 years Western history, identifying the great upheavals that occur in Western culture Christianity every 500 years." Contact Rev. Jed Schenck if you are interested in participating in this exciting study and discussion. Books are available in the front office for $10.

Disciple Bible Study

Disciple Bible Study courses are offered annually by Jim Fredrick. Jim is currently leading a Disciple I class. The classes are a wonderful way to strengthen faith and develop the discipline of studying scripture. Please contact the church office at 928-774-7383 if you are interested in participating in a future class.

Christian Beliefs Class

Arne Hassing is currently leading the Christian Beliefs class in a study and discussion of Hans Kung's Eternal Life? Life After Death as a Medical, Philosophical and Theological Problem. To quote Arne: "Thinking about "eternal life" has implications for how we think about God, human nature, Jesus, history, science, theology, philosophy, medicine, the end of life, other religions, and even the cosmos. This is not a narrow question!"

The Christian Beliefs class meets at 9:45am on Sunday mornings in Room #14. The class will resume on April 15th.
