Thank you for considering Federated Community Church for your wedding.
Wedding dates and times are scheduled through the church secretary. The pastor meets with the couple three or more times prior to the wedding. This provides the couple with an opportunity to discuss the meaning of Christian marriage and to consult with the pastor regarding the wedding ceremony.
Music is arranged in consultation with the church organist, who plays at all weddings held at the church when the organ is used. If the church organist is unable to play, she will suggest a substitute. (Another organist may be invited only with the consent of the church organist.) Vocal soloists accompanied by the organist should be arranged with the organist at least one week prior to the rehearsal.
The church’s wedding coordinator is an integral part of weddings at Federated Community Church. The coordinator works as a liaison between the church and the wedding party to coordinate arrangements for the rehearsal and the wedding ceremony. The coordinator’s duties include scheduling, meeting with the couple before the wedding, a one hour rehearsal, and three hours on the wedding day.
Candles are permitted on the chancel area only. Candles may not be used along the aisles. The two candles on the alter/communion table are provided by the church. Candelabra and the unity candle are optional and need to be provided by the wedding couple. The church will provide a unity candleholder.
Photography can be an important part of a wedding. Federated Church wedding policy is that after the bride has arrived at the chancel steps, no pictures are permitted during the ceremony, until the pastoral blessing has been pronounced. The photographer may take timed exposures (non-flash) from the rear of the sanctuary. If the couple wishes, the wedding party may regroup in the sanctuary following the ceremony, at which time other pictures may be taken. The photographer should consult with the pastor and/or wedding coordinator for clarification. Video recordings may be made during the ceremony, from a stationary tripod with no artificial lighting.
In decorating the sanctuary, care must be taken that no damage is done. Nails, tacks, staples, and tape may not be used. The couple is responsible for clarifying this with the florist. All decorations are subject to approval of the pastor and wedding coordinator.
Rice, birdseed, or any equivalent may not be thrown. This includes within the church building, on the church premises and grounds, and on adjoining sidewalks. The only exception to this may be made if the wedding reception is held at the church.
NO SMOKING is allowed in any of the church buildings. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES of any sort are permitted on church property. The officiate at all weddings will be a pastor of this church, or his/her designee. At the pastor’s discretion and invitation, guest clergy who are duly ordained may be invited to assist. It is not the practice of Federated Community Church to “rent” its building for ceremonies not conducted by the pastor, nor to permit non-ordained persons to officiate.
Wedding receptions may be held in the church fellowship hall (Rees Hall). See fee schedule below.
A non-refundable $75.00 deposit is necessary to reserve the date and time of the wedding.
All financial arrangements for the wedding must be settled one week prior to the rehearsal. A check should be made payable to “Federated Church” and sent to the church’s mailing address: 400 West Aspen Avenue, Flagstaff, AZ 86001
